 "Stopped worn down" 2009-09-21
By B'ham Momma
I got this to make baby food when my son was about 6 months old, I've only been able to use it a handfull of times because the mechanism that pivots when you close the lid has worn down, so it no longer pushes the button into the motor to make it work. I see no way to fix this, so now I am stuck with a $50 piece of garbage.

"Grat price but not an investment" 2009-09-08
By Kay Sea (chicago, IL)
I bought this form Target. It worked as advertised. However, after chopping up some garlic, some of the small garlic bits got into the handle through multiple holes in the design where the cover and the work bowl locks into place with the motor. There is no way to clean off the bits stuck in the handle once it gets in there.

I'm planning on returning this unit.

I got this as a gift and didn't think much of it until I opened it up and used it. It's very nice quality and since I'm usually cooking for myself it's just the right size. If I was cooking for more people then I would want a larger unit.

For some reason, I thought this was a larger unit. It's rather small, but it wasn't a tragedy.. as I prefer having a small unit for small jobs.. and a larger one for larger jobs. As always, high quality from KitchenAid!

 "It Works, but..." 2009-01-27
By Peter Brackett (Atlanta, GA)
It works but can be a bit messy during clean up. It does make excellent chicken or tuna salad, however the blades sit so low that onions and other veggies are slung out of the way (upward) before being fully shredded. I wonder why they don't put a set of blades all along the shaft of the cup? I also wonder why things can't fit together without gaping holes, but I guess that's what makes us human.

 "I find it's very handy" 2006-12-03
By S. Charles (Columbus, OH)
I bought this exact thing back in 2000, and my husband and I still use it fairly regularly. It's great for smaller jobs, like mincing onions, making salsa, etc. I do notice that you can't put too much liquid in it w/out it spilling through the mid-section and onto the counter, but I think it's just common sense if you need to make a larger amount of food, use a bigger processor (or use a blender). Aside from the spillage issue, sometimes it doesn't chop down all the food- it misses pieces, which is annoying. But I can say that the blade is still razor sharp after all these years. I like it.

"The worst food processor ever" 2006-02-09
By Lilou (VA)
This chopper, if you can call it that, is terrible. I've tried chopping all kinds of foods from veggies to fruit to nuts to cheese. I've tried filling up the bowl, half full and barely anything at all. It doesn't chop. Plain and simple it just doesn't chop the food. I've had pieces of vegetables get stuck on the blade. Then, I'd have to stop and remove the piece and try again. It started to chop a little a couple of times, but then just stopped and the blade kept spinning while chopping nothing.

It was horrible and I've opted now for a bigger 7 cup Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart processor based on reviews here.

Lesson learned, you get what you pay for.

 "Awful" 2004-07-29
By Kacey (Oakland, CA)
This couldn't even handle chopping a 1/4 of an onion that had already been roughly chopped.

I have a mini processor attachment for my blender, and while it doesn't hold much, it's way more powerful. This is sitting in a box in the basement, where it's been for 2 years... and where it'll stay.

 "Just OK" 2004-07-04

For the price it works fairly well. Don't fill past the 1/2 full level or take a very long time on high to get the food smooth. If you don't want the food smooth, only chunky/chopped, then this is a good product for that.

"Wish it did what it was supposed to" 2009-02-09
By J. Norden (Fort Wayne, IN)
I bought this to see if I would use a food processor enough to upgrade to a bigger, more powerful unit. I was excited to find that this small processor would shred and slice since most this size don't. This would have been great had it actually done that. Most of the food I tried was wasted. I ended up with cucumber mush instead of slices. It would only shred half of two quarters of potatoes. It made more juice than shreds. The shreds and slices I did cut were stuck at the top of the shoot and had to be cleared every few seconds. Chunks of cheese got stuck between the blade and the container. This probably would be a better product if it didn't utilize the shoot only for shredding and slicing and just allowed them to fall in the bowl. I had more of a mess to clean up because of the shoot and I used a fairly tall bowl. Also with the buttons on the side, I more than once accidently turned it on. Too bad it was so terrible because it was so cute. If you want to mini processor that shreds and slices check out the 3 cup food processor made by Food Network. It's only $10 more and actually works.

 "Skip it" 2008-07-07
By SmilingLady (ND)
At the time it was the only small electric shredder I could find, and I've used this item for over a year, but I can't say I like it one bit.

Its primary role has been to shred carrots. As others have noted, the shreds fly everywhere unless you very carefully cup your hand around the spout. That's assuming you can get the carrots to shred. The unit is designed in such a way that often the carrots or pieces (you usually need to cut them to get them in the tube) will catch in the space between the tube and the blade. It's a hassle to have to fish those parts out and try again. And eventually, pressing carrots down to shred leads to a bent, then broken blade.

My previous mini-food processor handled this work for years before it faded. The B&D unit is a great example of poor design and poor quality materials.

Customer Buzz
"did B&D even test this thing?" 2008-03-17
By Lauren Osborne (Athens, GA)
I've had this little thing forever - but I only use the chopping blade. Did they even TRY shredding a carrot..cheese....anything? Because I gotta tell you, I make my living as a personal chef, so I'm pretty handy when it comes to familiarizing myself with culinary appliances; I just though maybe I mixed up some parts from some other appliance, or wasn't assembling it correctly. The shredder/slicer attachment is so faulty that's it's actually kind of funny (only after you've lassoed the shreds of kamikaze cheddar that stormed the counter, floor, and pretty much anywhere BUT the bowl and recovered from a brief spell of vertigo as a result). Um....don't get it? yeah - don't get it.

"Like Mini Size Much Better Than Big Original Ones" 2009-08-29
By carol irvin (United States)
I used to use the big original food processor. I went through several versions of those over the years. Then I gave up on them and returned to using a knife. Recently, I saw this little food processor and thought that it would be perfect. I could leave it out in the kitchen all the time. I could use it for one meal, toss it in the dishwasher and have it ready for the next day. That's how I use it and it works great. Just a couple of simple pulses and you're done. It is no more complicated than that and I like that it is simplistic. I no longer cook anything but small meals so this is a perfect size for me.

 "NOT operator friendly!!!" 2008-06-07
By E. Holt (USA)
I really dislike this machine. It is very difficult to use. It is hard to get the cup secure so that the blade will process food. It takes me several minutes to just get it to work. Secondly, It only has one button, pulse. I would have never purchased had I known that I need to continue to hold the button for ever and ever. I like to push a button and let it run will I go do something else. If you are not good at processing with one hand don't waist your money. I bought this to make hummus and garlic sauce and it is almost impossible to do these recipes with this machine as the recipe calls for you to slowly add ingredients while machine is running. This is kinda hard when you have to hold the "pulse" button. DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE

Customer Buzz
 "Do not buy" 2008-05-06
By G. Glowacki
I bought this item over a year ago, seldom used it and it is already broken. I believe it is a design flaw. It has a recessed button in the base that should start the chopper when the bowl and cover are properly seated. Probably the second time I went to use this the button in the cover is not pushing hard enough on the button in the base. If I use a pick to press the button the motor will run, but it is impossible to use since the button is covered up when the bowl is in place. It's a very pretty color pink, but that's about it. I had a Cuisinart for years before it finally gave out. I'm buying another Cuisinart.

I love the color but that is about it. The product has proven to have a fragile system. I use it on average once a week to puree/chop 1 small onion and garlic. It works fine for about 6 weeks and I don't know what happens but the motor stops working. I have had the appliance replaced twice and the same thing happens. I have had my Cuisinart for years and never had a problem.

 "Very Useful Kitchen Gadget" 2008-12-22
By Marina (USA)
I love this 3 cup food processor! I use this for my everyday family meal cooking. Very helpful in chopping carrots in small bits. I always add carrots or any vegetable to ground meats so that I can sneak some vegetables to my kid's meals. This chopper do a good job in chopping carrots that my kids dont even notice the veggy in their meatballs, burger, spaghettie sauce, etc... To get better results, I chop the carrots first into cubes and then toss them in this chopper and I do shake the chopper to get better results because it does not do a good job when you dont shake them. For the price of this chopper, I dont have complains and dont mind at all preping the carrots and shaking the chopper because I hate manually chopping hard raw carrots into tiny bits, it is very tedious and dangerous! I do have the very much expensive and 'state of the art' cuisineart food processor - which I use very rarely because it takes a lot of time to set-up and clean afterwards. So for everyday-family meal-chopping chores, I will definitely recommend this. It's cheap, convenient, and very useful.

I tried using this once to chop bell peppers and celery and it turn into a juicy salsa, so not recommended if your NOT making salsa. But if you want salsa, this machine is great! My sister makes salsa and shrimp cocktails all the time and she uses this chopper all the time.

So definitely recommended. By the way, I had mine for three years already and it is still working!

Great for tasks that would be messy with a knife and cutting board. I use it for nuts, cranberries, etc. Haven't tried it with onions as I prefer a french chef knife for most fresh vegetables. Cleanup is a breeze but use great care with the super sharp blade. It's what I wanted, a small, easy to clean, easy to store, affordable, efficient chopper.

 "Cuisinart Food Processor scam!" 2010-01-07

Why I call this product a scam is because it was misrepresented in the ad! I expected to get a complete machine and received only the top part with no motor (who suspected that the caveat, "Processor Duet Attachment" meant "no motor")! Maybe I should have suspected something was missing because the price was so low! I had to go to a lot of trouble returning it and trying to get my money back, including the postage! I then ordered a Kitchenaid (referbished) and it is fine.

I bought this to replace the 3-cup food processor that I have been breaking slowly for the past 3 years. The final blow came when I needed to shred raw chicken. I didn't chop the chicken small enough & added too much. Before I did that I broke the pusher piece, the lid and dropped the whole appratus a few times. It has been taking a beating from me for years.

I tried to find this on the internet, and had almost no luck. I really didn't want to buy a new food processor, I just wanted to replace what I broke. I found it here & received it in a few days and love it. I am trying not to break it this time. It is a great product that works well & I am happy to have it.

I thought this was a perfect way to chop up food for recipes, and to chop up herbs to put into my dog's food. And it is!!! cleanup us easy too...but DEFINITELY be careful of touching those blades, which I did twice already. It's small enough to not take up the whole counter, too!

 "Sadly not worth it" 2009-02-14
By Sara Olson (Hell, SD)
I have an all pink theme to my kitchen and happened to need a new smallo food chopper/processor so my mom got me it for my birthday. I'm sad that it wasn't worth her money spent. The first time I used it, it kept getting stuck (I was chopping a scant 1/4 C of onions), the second time it leaked everywhere, and the third time it burnt out and stopped working (I was mixing a few berries into a 1/2 C of yogurt). My mom took it back and I went and purchased a cheap no-name brand food processor- still works today! I would definitely invest in a bigger food processor possibly from Cuisinart or Kitchen aid as I've heard great things about both brands food processors that are large, but not this one again.

"Cute But Leaks- I don't recommend it" 2009-01-28
By L. Gulley (Fort Lauderdale, FL USA)
At first I wrote a good review about this product, but sadly I had to delete it.

The first time I used it it was fine, but the second time was not so great. It started to leak all over, from the bottom, and the top. I checked to make sure everything was in place, and it was. So this processor is not dependable, at least the one I got.

I am returning it-

Also, I didn't realize how small it is.It is only good for small things, such as sauces. If you want to make anything else get a bigger one.
